I started making contact staffs in 2006, for myself, then my friends, and then an ever-widening web of wonderful people studying movement, self, relationship, and the movements of selves in relationship, as expressed by manipulating a stick, or maybe by providing a stick with a space to explore.
I've kept up with the latest innovations in materials, while staying grounded in well crafted and simple designs informed by thousands of hours of making, and thousands of hours of practice.
Besides using the best materials that i know how to find, i try to infuse the sticks that i make with a joy for life in motion and also with a quiet contemplation of how we each fit together to cocreate that life in motion. Such things may or may not inspire your practice of contact staff, but either way, they are present to be found. May you find your presence!
